Workshop highlights

Our workshop took place on June 2nd - the last day of ICRA 2023 - and we would like to thank everyone - the invited speakers, the paper contributors, and all attendees - for making it such a wonderful event! It was great to see many people interested in the topic of robot failures (the peak number of attendees - considering both in-person and online attendees - was between 40 and 50), hear about the diversity of existing problems, and get an overview of techniques that the community is exploring to deal with robot failures.

A visual summary of the workshop is provided through various photos below.
Invited talks
We had 10 inspiring invited talks during the workshop. Six of these were in person (Ms. Iman Awaad, Dr. Masha Itkina, Prof. Dr. Marta Romeo, Dr. Tathagata Chakraborti, Dr. Gerald Steinbauer-Wagner, and Mr. Sebastian Blumenthal), while four were online (Prof. Dr. Esra Erdem, Prof. Dr. Danesh Tarapore, Dr. Sanne van Waveren, and Ms. Devleena Das).

Details about the invited talks can be found here.

Panel discussion
During the panel discussion, seven of our invited speakers - Dr. Sanne van Waveren (joining us online), Prof. Dr. Gerald Steinbauer-Wagner, Dr. Tathagata Chakraborti, Mr. Sebastian Blumenthal, Ms. Iman Awaad, Prof. Dr. Marta Romeo, and Dr. Masha Itkina - had a very insightful conversation about different aspects related to the underlying topic "Robot fault analysis and management in the era of black-box models." The discussion touched upon a variety of aspects, such as the suitability of existing failure analysis methods for failures produced by black-box models, training data management, failure explainability, and the role of end users in the process of failure recovery.

Paper spotlight presentations
We had 11 very interesting spotlight presentations of accepted papers during the workshop (we are unfortunately missing a photo of one of the spotlights).

The spotlight presentations were followed by a very interesting poster session.

A list of all papers that were presented can be found here. Links to PDFs of the papers for which we have received consent to publish them on our website are also provided there.

Group photos
Finally, here are some photos of the attendees taken at different points during the workshop, as well as a group photo with everyone who was able to stay until the end.
